    Red-spotted Newt

New critter in the pond today, have no idea how he got there.
He is 40ft off but from the photo seems to be a Red-spotted Newt.
He basks in the Sun on this fake lily pad, leaves for a time and returns. I guess he has laid claim to it. He looks fat and happy.

Apparently these salamanders start life in water, then live on land a couple years as they mature, then back to live in water as adults.
It is hard to believe this little guy has already survived for years.

    He is welcome here.

Excitement --> now he is standing up waiting on a bug to float by. It is amazing how easily I am entertained.

Wow, pretty cool and nice pictures! We have something similar around here more brownish colored use to see them often on the trail at Lord Hill park. I really need to get out in nature more again its been too long.
