    Rose-breasted Grosbeak

I just saw a rare treat out of my window. A Rose-Breasted Grosbeak on my feeder. I usually have them for a few days and then they are gone. The male has the beautiful breast! Not like us humans.

In my other life great racer Dr Larry Barden encouraged me to take up bird watching. He was a professor at UNCC and a bird expert.
I got some $20 binos from a pawn shop and the Peterson's manual he recommended.
My home made feeder hung near my kitchen window.
I come home, and an incredible bird was on it (I thought all birds were sparrows).
I could not find it in the book. (after decades the book is now almost worn out and I know it by heart).
I was excited and called Larry.
He said look on the front cover of my manual. You would have though I would have noticed. There it was - Rose-breasted Grosbeak. I was hooked!

Today I have a seldom seen Indigo Bunting at the feeders. Unlike the RBG, they are here all Summer, but not often in my yard. Also is a Yellow-throated warbler.
Damned Cowbirds have shown up and I shoot at them with my air soft gun.
