    Don't Try This

(just so you guys who seldom post will have something to read when you log in)

Last night I saw a better map to replace the one on my Weather Blog.
The one I have up of my place is old and back in the drought and Google has not upgraded as back in the woods as that not priority.

It is like Obama getting us high speed internet (HA Ha on that tax 'stimulas' rip off) or the chance Verizon will put up a tower so us people in the woods can make a call.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think me getting to load porn faster is the government's job, and I have no problem with Verizon not upgrading here until it make $$ sense to them.
I could move, choose to stay here.

Got up about 10AM today as I am working the 3rd shift lately.
I worked today until my ass is dragging and now with a 12 pack of 'RuthLess Rye' decided to work on my online weather station.

That was a poor decision as after only 3 bottles my mind is clogging. The pain is less and turning to "happy". My brain is OK but if you are like me, you have no formal training in "web speak" --> adding in beer seldom ends well.

There are many squiggles and new ones show up each day. Fuck up one 'squiggle' and all is fucked.

Sundance and I had great fun with this. In the old days it was just html and now it is WTF! Back then Sundance knew about computers, and I knew a little about the web (learned from my WEBTV unit, did not have computer) We accompished a lot after coffee while others were in funny meetings.

We rolled out the first Police websites, but even though there were no other "interactive" ones, we were put on hold by the dyke in charge. That is accurate.

Sundance and I were on line with "Charlotte Police" websites before the department had a clue.

We were just two guys fucking around with a morning appearance to "fit in" before we hit the street. Instead of a having a leader, we were mostly shunned as no ambitious person wanted a solid link to us.

We were the leading edge on the web when that was not allowed even as we were there and doing what they could not.

Thanks, AO, for the memory lane jog; and to give credit where credit is due, I got my start for HTML programming from you and your experience on WEBTV.
It was a lot of fun 'back in the day.'
As you know, (probably forgot by now), I have a degree in computer programming and at one time studied and could do some programming in COBOL, FORTRAN, PL1 and ASSEMBLER.
Now, that and $1.50 and I can get a cup of coffee.:applouse:
Never used the degree; as in 'If you have the experience, we'll hire you.' Oh, well.
Of course, I went into a different field and became a 'Behavior Modification Specialist'.
    I'm glad I did.......

Cool. I used to do web updates in HTML when I was an investigator with the USAF. Forgot most everything I learned about it~

    Back to the title:
I was online last night inside as I watched TV (have two screens on the 65" TV) and saw the guys have updated the weather service a I use.
I hated it until I looked around and now I like it. There is much more info, you just have to look different places for it. One can play there for a long time.

    WOW!
Cold beer made me loose track on that post, but now with a six pack of "Dock Side" lets get back to the original intent -> "WEATHER"

    Back to the title:
I was online recently inside as I watched TV (have PIP on the 65" TV) and saw the guys have updated the weather service I use.
I hated it until I looked around and now I like it. There is much more info, you just have to look different places for it. One can play there for a long time.

There are a million weather services, but only one can be the best and it is: http://www.wunderground.com/
Put your zip there and save the result.

This weather service is made up of many, many reporting stations. All others just do things like airports (which this one also includes).

The word "Wunderground" might make you think of some kid crap, but look again and see "geek" crap of the highest order.:smiley_simmons: If you just want weather for the airport - why? If you want the best weather for your yard, go to http://www.wunderground.com/

Weather here and there is not the same.:barbershop_quartet_
A good local Hartwell Lake source for rainfall is the government: http://water.sas.usace.army.mil/home/IndexDU.htm
They do a damn good job.
The LAKE is a big place and results at my home often differs a lot.
I suspect they are fairly accurate as am I. Wunderground provides the proof that my crap and their crap is not crap but very accurate.
Early this month they (near Hartwell, SC) got much less rain than me and my geek weather friends more Upstate. This week our weather stations got less.

YardCrap or the Gov't being wrong or right can be examined using Wunderground geek data from many stations. Both are seem to be accurate, and I suspect we all use nearly the same equipment. A few miles make a big difference in many areas.

There are weather geeks in your area and becoming one is incredible fun. I have been posting to the web every few seconds since 2009. I am a year around yard gardener, and I fish often. Accurate weather means a lot to me.
Whe it is looking like extreme heat, cold, or a storm coming, me and the Beagle plan to be on the porch.
I would urge all to take this up for a fun hobby.

My weather station is located on my dock.
It sends a wireless signal to my computer which updates to the web every couple minutes.
The weather history of my yard is archived for reference. If I want to know if my yard is experiencing global warming or unnatural climate change since 2009, I can pull up any minute, any day, any month, any year with graphs and charts. (Al Gore is against this)

I'll be putting up what to buy soon, and I can take the mystery out of putting it up.

Here is my new weather map photo, just added today:

The line in the middle is the SC/Ga border and also the Tugaloo River Channel. In this area the channel (Tugaloo River) is 60+ foot. Not real deep, but deep. If Al Gore is right and the reputable scientists are wrong, I supose there will still be water there for me all my life in it.
All I need to do is stock in more beans and buy a bucket to haul water back to my cabin.

That little island on the map is actaully large, several acres.
Me and the dogs go there.
They have the run of the place as I sit with beer and a fishing rod. I have never caught a fish from there, but the dogs love it, as do I. The Bride will sometimes go there with us.
The dogs take over hunting and you don't have to worry about them getting lost or being hit by a car.
    They love the island.

What is the roof on your house made with?

That is a photo from several years back when drought hit and the lake went down 25 foot. Presently it is one foot over full pond which is more normal. That was a hard time on the lake to fish or play as most docks were not in the water.

That is a photo taken from an airplane years back and used on Goggle since then. We are not relevant enough for an update.
