While running at the Rec. Dept. today I noticed a Killdeer sitting next to the curb of the park road and it started running to lead me away from the nest and pretending to be injured. These amazing birds lay their eggs in the open with no real nest for protection. Here is the photo that I took of her eggs/nest just inches from the road.

This very short video is not mine but it shows exactly what I saw today!

You had them last year and not me.

I would see them in Matthews at the Park where I jogged trying to lure me away from the nest.
Here in Oconee, had them in them in my cove when I moved in, but have not seen one for years. That is true for other birds and critters.:grief:

Back "when", this place was an overgrown mess ~ and now people have moved in, cut down the trees that spoiled their lake view (not me), and cleared out all the nasty underbrush (not me).
People are great but I preferred my critters. My place is a "nasty" overgrown mess:triumphant:, but not large enough to support the critters that lived here for a thousand years.

I guess it is obvious reading this why I have no friends in my neighborhood.
All should be able to do WTF they choose with their land including me.

One man's mess is another man's Paradise!
